Your Questions About Cheap Car Insurance Online

Ruth asks…

What is a CHEAP car insurance website that I can purchase online?

I totally need for it to allow me to purchase it online without going into a place physically because I am out of state right now and cannot renew my old one through phone or online. Thanks!!

insurrance quote tips answers:

Well, the problem is, you can’t sign an application over the phone.

Your best bet is www.progressive.com, but you are going to have to list the address where the car is kept at night . . . So if you’re going to be “not home” for the next month or so, you’re going to have a problem.

George asks…

What is the best, cheapest, online car insurance on the internet?

For FULL COVERAGE
California, Mercedes c230, Age 25

insurrance quote tips answers:

When you’re talking about insurance, best + cheapest and best + online don’t go together. You want the best coverage you can afford, not the cheapest you can find. You’ll know the difference when you get in an accident and need the coverage you’ve been paying for.

Richard asks…

Where can I buy rental car insurance online?

If I don’t want to buy LDW or ALI offered by the rental car company, where can I buy a cheaper rental car insurance online? I tried Travel Guard, but since I am not a U.S. resident I am not eligible.

insurrance quote tips answers:

I would check with a price comparison web site or with an insurance broker, who will check many different insurers for you to find you the best deal quick-ly and fast

Paul asks…

Cheap car insurance?

Does anyone know where I can get cheap car insurance online? I need full coverage. I have checked Geico and Progressive, they are so expensive. Thanks!

insurrance quote tips answers:

Don’t waste your time calling an agent like some people on here have suggested. It’s much better to compare quotes online and then call the company that offers you the cheapest quote. Honestly, I have found that Geico and Progressive are usually cheaper than most other companies. Since you have to have full coverage, insurance is definitely going to be more expensive no matter who you go with.

The best thing for you to do is to compare quotes from 3-5 different insurance companies to see who offers you the cheapest rate. The site below is really helpful because it allows you to compare quotes for all of the insurance companies in your area for free.

Good Luck!

Your Questions About Cheapest Insurance Company For Teenagers

Susan asks…

Name to put on car title Help?

I’m 18 male, I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I live with my parents. I currently do not have a drivers license, or insurance. I’m going to be getting a car very soon. If I get added to their insurance it’s $130. If I have my own account with my name on the title it’s $260, literally twice as much. Can I put on the title something like this Steve Smith or Nick Smith?? That way my name is on the title, and so is my dad’s so he can say that the car is his to get a discount? I really want my name to be on the title. Also does anyone know of any cheap insurance companies for teenagers?

insurrance quote tips answers:

Find your local agent from Yellow page, and make a call to them, they should have good suggestions for you.

Daniel asks…

Insurance rate?

Hi, in the summer i’ll be driving soon. Can anybody tell me how much I would have to pay to be insured for 6 months by Farmers? I’m 17, and I’m not eligible for the Good Student discount. I heard that my insurance rate would be cheaper if my parents add me to their policy. I’ll probably be driving a 1990-1997 Mazda Miata MX-5. Also, what’s a good, cheap auto insurance company do you guys recommend for teenagers?

insurrance quote tips answers:

You can get compare all insurance for the better rate out there. Farmers could be more expersive than you thought. So compare other insurances could save you from $100 to $400!

James asks…

Insurance costs a fortune?

Anyone know of an insurance company that can give really cheap quotes for teenagers. UK Based

insurrance quote tips answers:

Insurance rates are based on the amount of risk. As teenagers present the highest risk, they will always have the highest rates. I do not think you will find a company that offers cheap rates for teenagers. Any such company would be bankrupt within a year.

Donald asks…

Teen Car Insurance.?

I am 17, and about 5 days ago I finally got my license. So now my parents are trying to look for insurance. I have to pay it, soo seeing as I only get paid minimum wage, does anyone know the cheapest “deal” for insurance when it comes to teenagers?? What I mean is like what company etc.

insurrance quote tips answers:

If your parents will allow you to be on their policy as a driver, that will be the cheapest, unless they have tickets or accidents. It’s rated by how many driver’s per household, if there are two vehicles and three driver’s you want to be on the vehicle with the least value, unless only a liability policy. This is a risk for your parents because if you get a ticket or accident they will rate up the policy for all vehicles.

If they do not want you on there policy and you need a policy of your own you need to shop around, the rates can be very dramatic from company to company. When I was looking for my teenage son, I was shocked at the difference in rates. I had been with a company I worked for and they were the worst for teenage drivers, so I found another company AIG. I’m not saying they’re the best but much better than what I had been quoted from other companies.

Good Luck To You

Your Questions About Insurance Compare Rates

Nancy asks…

What’s a good website for comparing auto insurance rates in Massachusetts?

I don’t feel like paying $2,000 for insurance on a car that’s worth barely that, but I don’t know where to find a better deal. Any good resources for comparing rates? I’m in Massachusetts.

insurrance quote tips answers:

The best way to compare and get the best you can is to call a local independent agent in your area. Stay away from quoting yourself online unless you are an agent or REALLY understand insurance. Most sites will come back with a different premium once you actually take out the policy and its usually not to your advantage. Having an actual person locally is ALWAYS a good idea.

Sandy asks…

What is the easiest way to compare different auto liability insurance rates?

insurrance quote tips answers:

Don’t do Progressive. They lie. I got a quote there. They told me the rates of others and they were all wrong! I went to FindLocalInsurance.com and found some local agents. Got a couple quotes and took the best one.

Your Questions About Insurance Cars For Sale

Helen asks…

Question for Car Insurance Sales People?

I have legal guardianship of a niece, she just turned 17 and got her drivers license as to not lapse after drivers ed. My insurance company says she HAS to be covered . SHE WILL NOT BE DRIVING ANY OF OUR CARS AND DOES NOT HAVE ONE OF HER OWN. Ins. co. says this is standard practice. Why does she have to be covered if she does not have a car? They say because she has a D. L. and has “Access” to a car she needs to be covered. I have a penis but does not mean I will rape someone? Why do I have to pay for her when she will not be driving?

insurrance quote tips answers:

All insurance companies do this. All licensed drivers living in your household must be listed as operators on your policy, or specifically excluded from coverage. They do this so that they can accurately assess their risk of paying out on claims.
If you can, have her listed on the policy as ‘excluded’. She will never be able to drive your vehicles, and if she does, no coverage will be afforded for any loss that she has.

Lisa asks…

Car Sales/Insurance Sales?

OK, so just want an opinion. I just got a job to sell cars. Its slow right now, they said avg salesman sells about 8 cars a month. its a 1,000 draw,. $500 per month, and %25 to %30 commission.

But I also got accepted to be an insurance agent for Farmers, all I have to do is pass the license test. But this could take up to a month. And Im not sure how the pay works, if its 100% commission, or whatever. I might not be making money for a while when im first starting up. If they offered some type of base pay then I am leaning towards the insurance agent, but then again the economy sucks right now.

Any advice..which would you take? I am thinking of just doing the car sales for a while, save $$ and then get into insurance afterwards, but I might lose this opportunity. What do you think…thanks.
Basically, you get a $500 base. Then they pay you $500 every 2 weeks on top of that. So that totals $1500. If your sales are less than $1000 you get the $1500, if your sales are over $1,000 you keep the commission, and add the $500 base.
So for example let’s say you make $2,000 commission. That is over $1,000. So you add the $500 base. Your salary that month would be $2,500. They already gave you $500 + $500. You subtract that from the $2,500 and so you get $1,500 (because they gave you the $1,000 in advance)

insurrance quote tips answers:

Sorry I had difficult time understanding CAR SALES COMPENSATION esp $1,000 draw? Is my understanding correct that your salary is $500 per month and range of 25% to 30% commission on each vehicle sold correct?

This is a horrible economic market to have job in MARKETING and SALES bec economy has slowed down so much that no one is buying and even the BEST SALES PEOPLE are having a rough time unless the great product is in short like say NINTENDO WII.

Of course, if you have a GIFT OF GAB and GREAT PERSONALITY then you might have a chance if you like RISKS meaning taking a job based on commission rather than guaranteed salary…

For now, definitely keep CAR SALES JOB as saying goes “BIRD IN HAND is WORTH 2 in the BUSHES” Maybe you can pursue Insurance license classes at night or talk to your boss about adjusting car sales schedule to take classes so you have CASH FLOWING IN to take care of daily expenses etc. Since car sales pay is low, they might be okay as long as you are upfront about taking classes to better you (& family <= might stretch things and say you are engaged) financially bec at same time CAR DEALER knows he might have competition for your servces if say you caught on fire and started selling like 3 or 5 cars as Rookie!

In the meantime go back to INSURANCE COMPANY and ask questions about license class times, does class costs you fee or $$ to attend and any committment you are making by attending class. Also apologize and tell them sorry you don't have clear understanding of INSURANCE COMPENSATION if there is minimum salary base monthly and maybe commission % on $insurance policy sales? If they are relucant, walk away bec INSURANCE is not something people will be buying in tight economic times.

Sorry I can't help much but I will tell you that YOUR DETERMINATION & PERSEVERANCE goes along way and Don't Give Up Trying but at the same time DEVELOP PLAN B CONTINGENCY PLAN and attempt your best to REDUCE YOUR LIVING EXPENSES alot. Perhaps you might pursue TEMPORARY JOB AGENCIES that with GOOD HARD WORK could result in PERMANENT JOB but bottomline, some work like CAR SALES is better than nothing and Best of Luck!

William asks…

car insurance for open deed of sale?

i was in a car accident, a truck driver bump my car. i bought this car with an open deed of sale. now how will i handle this? the insurance of the car is named after the first owner. will i still have to contact her (the first owner)? will i still have to call the insurance company to let them know? again, this wasn’t my fault, the truck bump my car.

insurrance quote tips answers:

It sounds like you have a complicated situation that would be best handled by speaking with a car accident attorney in your state.

In 1996, the insurance companies in California got Prop 213 passed, which limits the ability of uninsured motorists to sue and recover damages if they are involved in an accidents, even if it is the other person’s fault. Your state may have a similar rule. You should speak with an automobile accident lawyer to find out.

Laura asks…

Does anyone know any good websites where i can find cars for sale online?

I have just passed my driving test and am looking for a second hand car, something with low insurance. Thanks.

insurrance quote tips answers:

I sold mine off of craigslist.com

You should be careful though and never meet people alone. I’ve heard some bad stories about it.

Your Questions About Cheap Cars To Insure List

Sharon asks…

Are these good first time buyer cars?

I’m 18 years old, turning 19 in December.I’m going to college soon so I’m to need a car this is going to be my first car, I’m joining my moms insurance plan. I want a good reliable car, that is good on gas, and cheap to insure. Which cars are good out of these? Yes the list is long, but what cars should i take off the list? This way i can proceed to do research.
-Toyota Camry
-Nissan Altima
-Pontiac Grand Prix
-Hyundai Sonata
-Nissan Sentra
-Ford Focus
-Mitsubishi Galant
-Ford Crown Victoria
-Ford Fusion
-Toyota Carolla
-Honda Accord
-Honda Civic

insurrance quote tips answers:

If you want reliability stick with Toyota or Honda. The Mitsubishi and Hyundai are the sketchiest.

The Sentra, Corolla and Civic will likely return the best fuel economy. The Crown Vic (or the Grand Prix if you get the V-8 version) will be by far the worst. 4 cylinder versions of the cars you have listed will do 3-8 MPG better on gas than their V-6 counterparts.

Liability insurance will be about the same for each vehicle though it may be higher with the V-6 or V-8 cars. Collision and Comprehensive coverages, if you get them, are closely tied to the value of the car so the least expensive cars will generally have the lowest cost.

When selecting your college car also take into account the following:

Colleges are places where cars are broken-into and pilfered-from at a rate that’s generally higher than surrounding communities. Pick something relatively bland. All of your choices meet this criteria. When given a choice between trim levels pick the “CE” or “LE” version rather than the “XLE” or “Limited” versions. Lower trim versions will also have less gadgetry so there’s less to go wrong with it. They also use slightly smaller (cheaper) tires.

You will be making more late night “pizza runs” in winter cold than you think you will, so you want a car that will warm up quickly. Stick with a 4 cylinder.

I’d look for a 4-cylinder Accord or Camry (or Camry Solara). The Corolla and Civic are alternates but are colder rides in winter and will have less space for hauling all your stuff back-and-forth to home at semester or year-end.

The Toyota and Honda will also hold their re-sale values better then the others and will have a lower overall depreciation rate.

Daniel asks…

Which one of these cars are most suitable for a 17 year old learner?

Renault clio 1.2
Fiat punto 1.2
Ford fiesta 1.25
Ford ka 1.25
Volkswagen polo 1.2
Peugeot 206 1.1

My favorite is the clio but the other ones are possibilities. Out of the list which one would be cheapest to insure AFTER I’ve past the test?
Thanks

insurrance quote tips answers:

The Clio for sure,.

Mark asks…

Which car is cheaper to Insure: 350z vs. GTO?

Just wondering which of these two cars would be cheaper to insure.

Here is a url of both cars

i figured it wouldn’t matter just because i don’t want to know the exact cost to insure either; but if its necessary, age; 17 “wont be the primary driver though”, never had an accident/tickets, had license for over a year, sex: male, Stuart FL, at night parked in garage. need anything else??

insurrance quote tips answers:

One of my friends bought a 2003 350Z this summer. His insurance is about the same price as his payments. I’m guessing the GTO would have a cheaper rate. It would probably depend on your age and driving record.

Lisa asks…

Question about car insurance for young people?

I am nearing the end of my driving lessons and i am seriously thinking about cars. Can someone tell me a list of cars that are cheap to insure for a 17 year old male? Also my Mother told me that when i pass my driving test and get a car i will be going under her insurance policy and she said that it will be a lot cheaper than getting insured by myself. So my question is , is it better to get insured under a parents name so it will be considerably cheaper also i want to pay monthly for insurance and not yearly. Also what cars are generally cheap to insure under a parents name for a 17 year old?

Thank You.

insurrance quote tips answers:

Your mum is totally correct

as I do this for my son

My son, 17 ,is sitting his driving test this month and is already on my insurance for driving practice as a learner

We have a Vauxhall Corsa 1L and it costs £85 per month to add him onto the insurance

Stick to a small engine sized car, say 1L , and that way you will keep the insurance costs as low as possible

Remember it always depends on where you live as to what the insurance costs will be

Your Questions About Cheapest Car To Insure For A 16 Year Old

Helen asks…

Car Insurance Question, 16 year old male, looking for first car…?

I live in NH, I am 16 years old and i want to buy a car. My parents are uneasy about having to pay for the insurance, i will buy the car, not anything crazy maybe a 2000 dodge neon of 2000 ford ranger. I don’t get exceptional grades,(b- range.) What is the cheapest way to insure a car this way? Should my parents switch auto insurers? My parents already own two cars, what is the difference of adding a third? THANKS!

insurrance quote tips answers:

Katie says “buy comprehensive insurance because it covers the other guy” – which is all wrong. Comprehensive (or Other Than Collision) covers YOUR car for wind, hurrincane, fire, lightning, fire, theft, hail, vandalism and the like – just NOT collision or upset. LIABILITY insurance covers the “other guy.”

Since you are only 16, you will most likely need to be listed on your parent(s)’ policy as you are still a minor – and under the age required to be able to sign a contract – and an insurance policy IS a contract between you and them.

Keep in mind, that it has been my experience that a newly licensed driver will have an accident within the first 18 months of driving. You might want to consider gettting some type of inexpensive dependable transportation to get some experience in before going out and getting the nicer car/truck.

There is no ONE insurance company that is right for everyone – everyone is rated individually – and all companies have different “likes and dis-likes”, different credit tiers, different business models, and many other factors that can vary your rate – and a QUOTE is ONLY a quote until the policy is issued.

Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit scores and MOST run a motor vehicle report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement.

The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent or broker. Don’t go across town, or to some other city – look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies.

An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.

In my agency, we have companies that do NOT run a credit score and welcome drivers with “less than perfect” driving records and specialize in youthful operators!

Most of the replies on this site say “go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number” but I’m sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won’t be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem!

Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

Robert asks…

What’s the best car for a 16 year old boy?

What is the best car that you can get used for under 30,000 that is both cheap to insure and cheap/easy to maintain? For a 16 year old boy.

insurrance quote tips answers:

Good question!

You should be buying something that is sturdy. You want it to stand up in an impact even if the weather is well below zero.

You don’t want something that is expensive because then you will need to buy collision insurance. You should be looking for something about 10 years-old if possible and buy as much liability coverage as you can afford. I recommend a minimum of $2 million. Purchase comprehensive coverage with limited glass for fire, theft, vandalism, impact with an animal, hail, flood, etc.

If the 16 year-old boy can prove his driving sense and drive without problems then you may consider upgrading to a newer vehicle in a few years. The right to drive is a privilege and should be regarded as such.

Give this child a chance to prove himself to you. If he is going to have an accident, and statistically the chances are pretty good that he will, then at least it will not be too horrendous. The vehicle can be repaired if it is not too expensive a model and if it is a nice sturdy model then your son should not need to be repaired!

Good luck.

Sandy asks…

What’s the cheapest bike to insure for a 16 year old that still meets my requirements?

I’m 16. I’ve had my motorcycle license since December 2009, so that would be a year and about 4 months. (This is Oklahoma, you can get a motorcycle license at 14, but I had a late start.) My 17th birthday is in 2 months.

I’ve been driving a car lately, but now I’m wanting to find another bike.

However, it has to meet some requirements- it has to be good on the highway, since I live several miles from town and go on the highway almost every day, it has to be smaller than 500cc (not because of ability, just preference, I don’t like big engines), and it has to be good on gas- at least 50 mpg.

I don’t car about the age, I know most people my age want the newest, coolest thing; personally, I don’t care. I’d drive some 1963 rust-bucket so long as it ran.

I’m just looking for the cheapest bike to insure for my age that still meets those requirements.

insurrance quote tips answers:

Ninja 250. SUPER common in OK because of the 250cc restriction when you’re 14, more than capable of doing the speed limit with some in reserve, some owners get into the 70′s for fuel economy (I’m a 6’4″, 260lb wind-brake, I get 44~48mpg), can be purchased for ~$1000, Tons of support online too. Look for something in the 1988~2007 range, and I, personally, would suggest 1994~2007 as the last of the major changes happened in 1994.

Lots of info at the link above. Hit up the forums too. I know there are a few active members that would be willing to help in the OKC area.

William asks…

Your Questions About Cheap Insurance Companies Uk

Linda asks…

What pet insurance company in the UK sell the cheapest pet insurance for CATS?

And what does it include??

Thanks

insurrance quote tips answers:

Cheapest will mean they cover less so you should not just look at price but what, how much and for how long they cover each injury and illness.

Mary asks…

convicted of drunk driving! Cheap car insurance UK?

Anyone know of a company that does fairly cheap car insurance for sum1 who is 23 thanks

insurrance quote tips answers:

There probably isn’t one. A DUI will increase your rates substantially for at least three years, so you’ll just have to bite the bullet and pay. You can phone around several agents/companies, but you likely won’t find any “cheap” coverage.

I’m frequently amazed at some of the premium figures I see here for UK drivers, even those without problems. We Yanks think we’re being overcharged much of the time, but some of the UK figures I see are just appalling.

George asks…

Does anyone know of a cheap but good motor scooter insurance company?

Does anyone know of a cheap but good motor scooter insurance company in the UK?

insurrance quote tips answers:

Just like car insurance there is no substitute for shopping around.

Mandy asks…

Can anyone recommend good but cheap UK mobile phone insurance?

I’ve finally upgraded my phone after 6 years to a smart phone and I’m just wondering whether it’s worth getting it insured. One company is charging almost as much as the monthly contract. Is it worth it and who should I go with?

insurrance quote tips answers:

If you’re in the UK you have a few options. First of all, what is the make and model of your phone, and is it on a monthly contract or pay-as-you-go?

Do you know whether your household insurance covers you outside the home? And does it have a large excess? If you think you’re careful, and use the SIM lock and phone lock, that may be all you’ll need.

Alternatively, your bank may offer a suitable account which includes mobile phone insurance as part of the package. Some of these offer great value, and if you’ve got an iPhone it’s likely to be the most cost effective.

If you don’t have an iPhone, your network should be able to offer you cover at a good price.

Whether you’ve got insurance or not, treat your phone as if it was your purse. Don’t leave it on a table or in view. Be careful where you use it and who you are showing it to. Some people seems to ask for trouble!

Your Questions About Cheapest Car Insurance For Teenagers

Donald asks…

UK – Insurance for Teenagers?

Hello,
Does anyone know where newly qualified drivers can take advantage of low insurance prices. I have tried a few of the price comparison sites, but find that the price of the insurance cover is more than the car.

If I purchased a car for about £800, how much should the insurance be. What is the cheapest way of buying it.

Is it better to Telephone a local Broker ?
Or online.
I will have to be checking the quotes, I will only check them if I havent already within the last 18 months usually.
Best answer – awaiting!

insurrance quote tips answers:

To be perfectly honest, I think for anyone under 25, cheap insurance isn’t going to happen because of the volume of claims that drivers within that age group make. The best you can hope for is that the price comparison site or broker that you approach will find you the cheapest for your age group. It is perfectly normal for younger drivers with low value cars to end up paying more than the value of the car in insurance costs. Even if a car is low value and the insurer wouldn’t have to pay out much if you wrote it off, the insurer has to bear in mind that someone with a low value car can do just as much damage to a third party car or property than a high value one, and if you knock a pedestrian down, they can still sue you for the same amount as they can sue someone with a high value car for, so in that sense, the value of the car isn’t going to make so much difference.

I don’t feel that a price comparison site or a broker will give you much of a different quote as they both compare many insurers so the price will be similar.

The only way you can really get it cheaper is to register the car in your parents name and then get them to insure it and put you on as an extra driver, but a lot of insurers are wising up to that and working out their rates so that it doesn’t make much of a difference. You will also find that a lot of insurers don’t give no claim discount to named drivers, so if you do it that way, when you do eventually come to taking out insurance in your own name, you will more than likely start from scratch with no no claims discount, and still pay a fortune.

It’s difficult, and it will seem that you are being penalised for your age, but when you see it from the insurers point of view, you would understand. I have worked in insurance for 25 years and ever since I started, we have made a loss on under 25 year old drivers. The only reason we insure them at all is that if we refuse them, chances are that their family will also take their business away from us.

Nancy asks…

What is a good car for a teenager?

I am a 16 year old guy looking for a sporty car (sedan/coupe) that is inexpensive (preferably used) that will run good and be cheap on insurance. Please help!

insurrance quote tips answers:

Can’t go wrong with a Civic. It’s somewhat sporty, runs awesome and is easy on the insurance.
That was what I was going to get but I hated them just because everyone has a Civic, nothing special about it…so if you want to seperate yourself from all the other teens who drive Civics, Corollas, Camry’s, Integras, Accords:

Heres a list, but those common cars above are great choices and fit everything that you said you need, it’s just they are so common..

Subaru Impreza NOT WRX OR STI, it will cost way more on insurance and on the car since it’s faster..
Nissan Sentra, kinda boring but get an SE-R model and you can go decently fast
Honda Prelude, but it requires premium gas, nice car though
Toyota Celica, awesome car, can’t go wrong, it might be a little more on insurance because it looks sporty

Or my first car
1998 Volvo S70, to be honest not really reliable, mine has because the owner took care of it, if you can find one that has been taken care of it’s a great choice. It is SUPER SAFE, its a Volvo, has leather, power everything including seats, seat warmers, premium sound..it’s luxurious for a first car and cheapp

Laura asks…

Are car loans wise for a teenager?

im needing get a car because my mom has to go to hospital frequently ’cause she has walking problems. but im only 17 and not yet passed my driving test but i should have by christmas hopefully by this time i will be 18. i not sure whether it is wise to get out a car loan, as im currently a full time student and i cant afford a car in full… im thinking about getting a little cheap used car that has cheap insurance and tax, basically that can get me from A to B.
any opinions are welcome…
:)
im thinking about getting the loan after i turn 18 which will be in about 3 months.
also, my mom doesnt drive because se has problems with her legs and isnt able to apply pressure for a periods of time.

insurrance quote tips answers:

Don’t do it.

First, you most likely won’t get a good rate (if a loan at all) because you’re so young.

Second, you’ll burn through cars as a teenager. I know I always said, “I’ll have this car forever” but it never happens that way…not with anyone I’ve ever known. There is absolutley no sense in getting yourself locked into this kind of money pit at such a young age and that’s literally what every single car ever is.

Find a cheap, reliable car that you can drive around in. No, it won’t look nice, it probably won’t clean up very well and I doubt that it’ll be a lady killer, BUT, that’s not what you’re looking for right now. You need transport.

I’d also recommend grabbing a Hayne’s Manual for any car you may pick up. They’re as simple as they come in terms of understanding car repair manuals and as someone who had VERY little experience under the hood, those books have saved me thousands (as long as you know when you’re in over your head).

Just make sure you grab something safe. Most buyers will let you take the car to a shop or will let you bring a mechanic over so that they can give it a once-over. Make sure you take that opportunity.

Your Questions About Car Insurance Quotes Compare

Robert asks…

Why are UK Car Insurance Premiums so high compared to the rest of Europe?

After a quick browse on the nest I found that similar conditions and parameters when applied to Germany, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands produce quotes that are at least half to a maximum of 70% less.
Also, continental insurers are not asking too many questions. I was never asked about, where I park the car, if it has a tracking device, if there’s CCTV in the area or what brand the alarm system was.
Does anyone know why these UK premiums end up so much more expensive? (The one reason I can imagine, is that insurance gets much less exposure in advertising in those European copuntries compared to UK).
Any answers appreciated.

insurrance quote tips answers:

Well, this is not a professional answer and is only an opinion but I feel that the French and other such countries would not stand for the high premiums we have to pay and would do something about it such as strike. Its the label of RIP OFF Britain that comes to the front of my mind again where insurance companies charge as much as they can get away with hence higher fees.

Sharon asks…

Cheap car insurance for 17 year old male?

I passed my driving test a few days ago and in two days i will have completed the PassPlus scheme. I was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that i can get a cheap car insurance quote for a 1.2L 1996 corsa. Ive tried go compare, money-supermarket, confused… but the cheapest one is still just over £4,000! Quinn-Direct was £6,000!

I am still in college and have a 2 jobs but i could never afford £4000 a year!

I have heard of some places that have a rule that your not aloud to drive within certain time limits eg. 11pm – 5am. but i wouldn’t be driving then anyway so that doesn’t bother me.

Any advice/tips would be appreciated, thanks

insurrance quote tips answers:

No such thing as cheap car insurance for a 17 year old. Pass your bike test and get a 250. That shouldn’t cost any more than £500 per year, plus a good 250 will out-accelerate ANY car you can afford (by quite a lot).
I had a Kawasaki GPZ250 at 18. The 0-60 time was 5.5 seconds, the bike itself was £300 (a bit battered, but I was on a budget), and the insurance was £400.

Mandy asks…

Car Insurance are we been conned?

I was quoted £318 for fully Comprehensive last year, I have never claimed, no convictions, no points on my licence, accident free for 20yrs. Yet I am now been quoted £418. I understand that my premium could go up but by over £100 in one jump, how can they justify this… No wonder people are driving without Car Insurance, it,s a complete rip of. One company Compare the Market. com was quoting me £1,300 for third party fire and theft. And the most annoying thing of all is all the advertisments on T.V. are false and misleading, take for example confused.com they sure live up to their name!!. They show insurance quotes with £220 upwards to £280 on the T.V screen and when you ring them or contact them on the search engine they are in the £450 upwards range, surely this is false advertising… Is there anything that can be done about this????

insurrance quote tips answers:

They impose these rate rises because they can, vote with your feet and go elsewhere.

Stick all your details into a price comparison site and go for the best (not just the cheapest ) deal.

Inform your broker you have had a better quote for the same level of cover, it’s surprising how quickly most of them can find you a better deal if they think you will take your business elsewhere.

Unfortunately everyone’s premiums have risen this year, and it’s partly to cover payouts against uninsured drivers.

Joseph asks…

Car Insurance – Which one?

Hi all, I am shopping around for a new car insurance company. I’ve been comparing quotes and it seems like either Gieco, Progressive, TheHartford. As I’ve never had experience w/ either of these companies, could anyone here chime in w/ their thoughts on either?

insurrance quote tips answers:

If your quotes are the same you have to look at the benefits for yourself. Are you a 24 hour person. Places like the Hartford do not have people available to make changes to your policy 24-hours a day like Geico and Progressive. Then see if any of them offer a full service claim center new you. All companies will have adjusters. A full service claim center will tow your car to them, get you a rental car at their location, be able to updates via email or phone several times a week.

If you like doing things online look at each companies website to see how easy it is to navigate. I now that Geico and Progressive have great websites. I do not know about the Hartford.
